Truman vs. Nebraska game ends in a 17-17 draw – Nebraska scored a converted try in injury time to tie the match, after Truman had lead the whole game. (Index article – October 30, 2008)
Truman split against men’s teams – Truman played two periods this weekend against two men’s division I clubs – the St. Louis Ramblers and Kansas City RFC. Both teams have multiple former Truman players. In the first 40 min period, the Ramblers controlled KCRFC by a score of 19-7. In the second period, Truman played their best rugby of the fall season, in overtaking the Ramblers 24-0. In the third period, Truman could not match KCRFC’s forwards, and we did not play as well, losing to them 19-5. We need to package how we played against the Ramblers and finish the season on a positive note. (Index article – October 23, 2008)
Truman drops close on to Kansas State 24-27. It looked like Truman was going to pull this one out. After trailing all game, Truman had one last chance with very little time on the clock, however, a great defensive stand by K-State kept Truman from scoring the winning try. Although Truman performed better, too many mistakes and mental errors cost them valuable field position and possession. (Index article – October 16, 2008)
Truman Rugby Alumni come to town and provide a lesson for the “young-uns”! The Truman Rugby alumni returned en force and provided a terrific display of unselfish “go-forward” rugby to defeat the Truman Team a 59-30. Despite their advancing age and waistlines, the Alumni played a good team-game, and executed their basic skills well. Alumnus Jim Rohr announced the Alumni’s initiative to provide track suits, kit bags and polo shirts for all players at the post-match BBQ.
Truman experience tough opening weekend of league competition, losing to Oklahoma State University 7-17 on Saturday, and falling to a strong University of Oklahoma team on Sunday, 10-59. (Index article – October 2, 2008)
Truman tackle Benedictine 19-0 – Despite the rainy and soggy conditions, Truman turned-in an improved performance this weekend. The hard work in practice showed as Truman looked generally sharper and more controlled in both attack and defense. (Match report here) (Index article – September 18, 2008)
Truman fall to Missouri in season opener 31-0. Truman was outplayed by MU in our first game of the season. We had moments, but poor decision-making at crucial times thwarted some scoring opportunities. MU was able to capitalize on our errors, and took the victory.
